Ennistymon and Ennis
Two towns that most visitors drive straight through, which is a shame, because this is where Clare is getting on with its actual life.
Ennistymon has the painted shopfronts people photograph without knowing what they are looking at. Ennis is the county town and the bigger stop, and it is where Bus Eireann route 350 to Doolin connects with route 343 from Shannon Airport.
If you are killing a few hours before a flight, Ennis is a better place to do it than an airport lounge.
What I would do with you
An hour in Ennistymon on a coast day, or a half day in Ennis if you want shops, food and somewhere with a roof when the weather is against us.
