Cat's Cabs, Doolin, County ClareDoolin · Co. Clare
The Cliffs of Moher and the sea stack below them

Doolin's local driver and guide.

Airport runs, day tours around the Burren and the Cliffs, trailhead drop-offs, or hire me for the whole trip. What I really sell is slow travel: one local, one car, and a day you're allowed to change your mind about.

  • Booked ahead, price agreed before you get in
  • Licensed and insured
  • I live here. I'm not driving out from Galway.

What I do

Four ways to put me to work

Most people find me because they need a lift from the airport. A fair few of them keep me for the rest of the week once they work out how much easier it is than driving themselves on roads with grass down the middle.

A passenger aircraft coming in to land

Airport transfers

I meet you in arrivals, I know when your flight actually lands, and I get you to your door in Doolin without you working out a bus change in a country you have never been to.

Private day tours

The Cliffs, the Burren, the coast road, the pubs in Doolin. Priced by the hour with a three hour minimum, and you can rearrange the whole thing on the morning.

Hiking trailhead drop-offs

I leave you at the start of the walk and collect you where you finish, so a one way route stays a one way route. I guided hiking before this, so I know which walks are worth your morning.

Hire me by the day or week

You get one driver for the whole trip. I learn what you like by the second morning, I carry the bags, and nobody in your group has to drive on the left.

The Cliffs of Moher

Everybody comes for these. Almost nobody sees them right.

The coaches arrive around eleven and they are gone by two, and in between the whole place feels like a queue. I live about ten minutes away, so we go when the light is worth the trip and the car park isn't the first thing you see.

Why me

I'm not a taxi company. That's the point.

01

One local, one car

You get me every time. Not whoever was free, not somebody driving down from the city who has to look up where Fisher Street is. I live here and I drive these roads, so I know which stops are worth your time.

02

The day is yours to change

This is slow travel. If it lashes rain we swap the walk for a cave. If you fancy a quiet pint, or a dip in the Atlantic, or an unhurried hour in the Burren, we pull in. Nobody is standing over you with a schedule, and you get the local craic on the way.

03

No meter, no surprises

Everything is booked ahead and priced ahead. You know what the day costs before you get in the car, so there is nothing ticking over in the corner of your eye and nothing awkward at the end.

Sample days

Somewhere to start

Nobody likes booking blind, so here is what a day with me usually looks like. Read them as a shape rather than a schedule. You can throw the whole plan out on the morning and I will not be a bit put out.

The car

Yes, your bags will fit.

People turn up having rented something enormous they did not need, because nobody told them what actually fits in a normal Irish car on a normal Irish road. So here it is plainly, and if your bags are bigger than that, tell me before you book and I will tell you straight whether it works.

  • Up to 4 passengers plus their luggage
  • Fully air conditioned
  • Škoda Superb, 2021
  • A big boot with room for four people and their cases

Straight answers

The questions I actually get

Can I just flag you down, or find you at the pier?
No, and I would rather say that plainly. I am licensed as a pre-booked operator, not a rank taxi, so every job is arranged in advance. Message me with your dates and I will be there, at the time we agreed, with the price already settled.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
I watch the flight, not the clock. Send me the flight number when you book and I will already know before you land. If you are three hours late I am still there, and we sort it out like adults.
Can we change the plan halfway through the day?
Yes, and most people do. If the weather turns, or you want another hour at a beach, or somebody spots a sign for something, we go. The plan is a starting point, not a contract.
Do you go outside County Clare?
Yes. I will travel anywhere. I have done Dublin airport runs, and one long run north into Northern Ireland, and on multi day hire I go wherever the trip goes. Tell me where you are headed and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person for it.
